Who We Are

SLANGO in Sierra Leone refers to the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations. SLANGO is a key player in the civil society sector in Sierra Leone, playing a vital role in supporting and coordinating the activities of various NGOs working in the country.  We serve as a collective voice for NGOs in Sierra Leone, representing their interests and advocating for their needs in government and with other stakeholders. We facilitate collaboration and networking among NGOs, promoting information sharing and joint initiatives. As a membership organisation we provide training and resources to help NGOs strengthen their capacity and effectiveness. SLANGO monitors the work of NGOs and evaluates their impact, ensuring accountability and effectiveness. Membership with SLANGO is   a requirement for NGOs operating in Sierra Leone, according to the National NGO Policy Framework.

We  run  training programs  for our NGO members because we know that it is beneficial in empowering staff with the skills and knowledge to design, implement, and evaluate effective programs, leading to improved outcomes and greater organizational impact.  We equip our membership to make informed decisions about resource allocation, ensuring that resources are used effectively to achieve program goals and also staff confidence and motivation by providing them with the skills to make a meaningful contribution to their organizations. For SLANGO we believe that by developing more effective programs, the NGOs can better achieve their mission and impact the lives of the communities they serve.
