Saidu Kanu is the Country Director of World Hope International, an International Non-Governmental Christian Organization working in Sierra Leone since 1999.
At World Hope International, Saidu directs programs and strategy within Sierra Leone. Saidu has overseen efforts to provide safe drinking water to rural communities, schools and health centers, empower parents and communities to fight human trafficking, support rural farmers with livelihoods, improve the health and nutritional status of women and children through WHI health interventions, improve access to education through early childhood development and Child Sponsorship .
Alongside his current role, Saidu is an active member of the Rotary Club of Freetown where he served as President in 2019/2020 and plays a key role in implementing Rotary humanitarian projects nationwide.
Saidu has a long involvement with SLANGO, participating in its activities and supporting SLANGO initiatives. World Hope Intl hosted the SLANGO northern regional office in Makeni for the past few years.
Saidu is an active member of the INGO Forum. He is a member of the MOPED NGO advisory committee. He is also the Board Chair of Street Child, Sierra Leone.
Saidu is a Disaster Response and Management Specialist. He is a trainer in the SPHERE Project (Minimum Standards in disaster response) and a Trainer of Trainers for Africa university and Action by Churches Together International (ACT)in disaster response and management for Christian organizations involved in disaster response.
Saidu studied at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation, Kitwe, Zambia, Africa University, Zimbabwe, Chalmers Center for Economic Development, Covenant College, Georgia, USA.
