Christian Kamara

Mr. Christian Martyn Kamara is the National General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA in Sierra Leone and Zonal Facilitator for West African YMCAs.

For over 20 years, he has dedicated his life in youth and community transformation. As CEO of the YMCA, he has designed community-based interventions focused on youth development and empowerment in Sierra Leone. He has played a crucial role in policy development advocating for the establishment of various Youth structures.

Mr. Kamara is a resourceful and results-oriented leader with a strong track record of performance in turnaround and high-placed organizations. He utilizes keen analysis and insights and team approach to drive organizational improvements and implementation of best practices. Superior interpersonal skills, capable of resolving multiple and complex issues and motivating staff to peak performance.

His skills are recognized beyond the national borders where he co-designed and fundraised for a Multi Country projects transforming young people in Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Togo; and a joint country project on supporting youth livelihood and Governance in Sierra Leone and Liberia. His passion for young people becoming useful and productive citizens continues to unfold as he develops programs in contributing to the Africa we want

Within Civil Society, Mr. Kamara has supported the Civil Rights Coalition which advocates for the implementation of the 10% quota for youth participation in governance.

He served as the Past President of the Rotary Club of Freetown, District Secretary of District 9101; and currently serves on several boards including Chairman of CODOHSAPA, Member on the Board of the Finance Committee of Council of Churches in Sierra Leone; Chairman Investment and Development Committee CCSL,a member of the FM 98.1 Radio board and Treasurer of SLANGO Interim board.

Mr Kamara is a development and Management Specialist; he holds a BSc( Hons) & MSc in Development Studies and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) for Executives from the University of Sierra Leone. He has completed a number of professional short courses in Community Development, Financial Management in and out of Sierra Leone.
